WHEN OUR RETURN HERE IN JUST A FEW. KEVIN, THANK YOU. HAPPENING NOW LIVE. LOOK CROSSROADS CHURCH THERE IN FLORENCE, KENTUCKY AS FRIENDS AND FAMILY AND NEIGHBORS IN THE COMMUNITY ARE GOING TO GATHER TO REMEMBER THE FOUR PEOPLE WHO DIED AT THAT HOUSE PARTY OVER THE WEEKEND. THE VIGIL WILL START IN JUST A FEW MOMENTS. MELISSA PERRY SHANE MILLER, HAYDEN RYBICKI AND DELANEY ERIE ALL DIED IN THAT MASS SHOOTING. THE 21ST BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR THAT YOUNG MAN OVER THE WEEKEND. AND NOW THE HEALING PROCESS WILL BE A VERY LONG ONE FOR MANY IN THAT COMMUNITY. SO WHETHER THEY LIVE ALONG RIDGECREST DRIVE OR MAYBE THEY JUST KNOW ONE OF THESE VICTIMS, THE SUDDEN, SENSELESS LOSS IS JUST DEVASTATING. THE FAMILY CONNECTIONS JUST CONTINUE TO, YOU KNOW, TRICKLE OUT FROM FLORENCE BAPTIST CHURCH TO THE OFFICE OF MAYOR JULIE METZGER ON SATURDAY’S MASS SHOOTING, ALONG RIDGECREST DRIVE HAS LEFT A DEEP WOUND IN THE HEARTS OF A LOT OF PEOPLE. THIS IS A BIRTHDAY PARTY THAT COULD HAPPEN ON ANY ONE OF THE STREETS IN OUR CITY. UH, A NICE NEIGHBORHOOD, GREAT NEIGHBORS, PEACEFUL PARTY. POLICE SAY A LITTLE BEFORE THREE SATURDAY MORNING, A GUNMAN SHATTERED WHAT HAD BEEN A FESTIVE 21ST BIRTHDAY PARTY BY OPENING FIRE, KILLING FOUR AND WOUNDING THREE OTHERS. THOSE KILLED INCLUDE 44 YEAR OLD MELISSA PARROTT, WHO WAS HOSTING THE PARTY FOR HER SON. 20 YEAR OLD SHANE MILLER WAS ALSO SHOT TO DEATH, AS WERE 20 YEAR OLD HAYDEN REBECCHI AND 19 YEAR OLD DELANEY ERIE. LOTS OF FAMILY CONNECTIONS HERE WITH WITH DELANEY, I’M VERY GOOD FRIENDS WITH HER MOTHER. PHILLIP HEARN IS A PASTOR AT FLORENCE BAPTIST CHURCH. IT’S JUST, UM, IT’S A LOT OF PEOPLE IN THE AREA THAT ARE FAMILIAR WITH THESE FAMILY MEMBERS. THERE’S DEFINITELY CONNECTIONS. UM, NEIGHBORS, COUSINS, PEOPLE WHO MAYBE DID SPORTS OR SCHOOL ACTIVITIES THAT THESE YOUNG PEOPLE HAVE TOUCHED. SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE’S LIVES, AND THEY’RE SUCH A WEB HERE IN NORTHERN KENTUCKY THAT REALLY SHOWS WE’RE A CONNECTED COMMUNITY. AND WE JUST FEEL FIRST AND FOREMOST, FOR THOSE WHO HAVE LOST THEIR LOVED ONES, THAT’S IT’S JUST SO DIFFICULT. AND AND ALL THE PRAYERS OF THE CITY OF FLORENCE AND OUR WHOLE ENTIRE COMMUNITY ARE WITH THOSE FAMILIES AS THEY DEAL WITH THEIR GRIEF. NOW, POLICE SAY THE GUNMAN IN THIS CASE TOOK HIS OWN LIFE AFTER A SHORT PURSUIT. AS FOR THE THREE PEOPLE WHO WERE INJURED, THOSE HIT BY BULLETS, THEY ARE ALL EXPECTED TO SURVIVE. From Florence Baptist Church to the office of Mayor Julie Metzger Aubuchon, Saturday's mass shooting along Ridgecrest Drive has left a deep wound in the hearts of many."The family connections just continue to trickle out," said Philip Hearn, care pastor at Florence Baptist."This was a birthday party that could happen on any one of the streets in our city," Metzger Aubuchon said. "A nice neighborhood, great neighbors, peaceful party."Police said a little before 3 a.m. Saturday, a gunman shattered what had been a festive 21st birthday party by opening fire, killing four people and wounding three others.Those killed include 44-year-old Melissa Parrett, who was hosting the party for her son.Twenty-year-old Shane Miller was also shot to death, as were 20-year-old Hayden Rybicki and 19-year-old Delaney Eary."Lots of family connections here with Delaney. I'm very good friends with her mother," Hearn said. "It's just, it's a lot of people in the area that are familiar with these family members.""There's definitely connections — neighbors, cousins, people who maybe did sports or school activities that these young people have touched so many other people's lives," said Metzger Aubuchon.
